Now it's time to put your ideas into action. A piece of graph paper and some careful measuring will help you get a jump start on your dream kitchen layout.
Be sure to consider things like traffic patterns, appliance placement, wall space, drain limitations, window placement, etc. The tips below will help walk you through the basics for your plan. (Remember, even a rough measurement will help a design
professional to assist you in laying out your kitchen.)
1. Measure accurately. Start by noting the overall wall dimensions of your current room on your graph paper. Be sure to indicate wall length, floor to ceiling height, and height/location of any soffits. Be sure to measure all areas of your kitchen space, even if you do not intend to put cabinets there. Mark the location and dimensions of all windows and doors including trim, indicating which way the doors swing. (It might also be helpful to note size/location of your present cabinets for reference.)
2. Note where appliances, plumbing pipes and gas lines are on your plan. And don't forget to indicate all electrical outlets, switches, heating and air conditioning registers, too.
3. Jot down model numbers, sizes and colors of appliances: current if you are reusing them wall oven, cooktop, range, dishwasher, refrigerator, microwave, sink(s), freezer, etc., so you'll know how much space they will take up.
4. Design your plan by placing all appliances & fixtures that cannot be moved back in their places. Then proceed to place the additional cabinets & appliances of your dreams. Be sure to call your Kentco specialist. |
